Real Estate New Jersey has named associate Scot Murdoch as one of this year's "40 Under 40" in commercial real estate. A graduate from the University of Arizona, Murdoch has worked at KSS for more than 10 years. In that time, he has excelled in industrial and commercial architecture, supervised the design and construction of millions of square feet, and helped increase the size of the corporate market from 35 to 55 percent for KSS.
Each year, RENJ selects 40 leaders in commercial real estate from a pool of nominated applicants. The magazine said it received nearly 100 nominations this year. Applicants come from a wide range of backgrounds and include lawyers, developers, real estate brokers and architects. The full list of winners appears in the March issue of RENJ.

On Mar. 6, developers and officials gathered in Elizabeth, N.J., for a ribbon-cutting ceremony that celebrated the completion of the first phase of AMB Portview Commerce Center designed by KSS. The 144,000 sf building, the first of three buildings to be constructed, sits on a 19-acre site in the once-booming industrial heartland on Dowd Avenue on the New Jersey Turnpike and offers access to the Elizabeth's port facilities.
Impressively, AMB Portview attracted a tenant prior to the completion of the first phase due to its advanced technical capabilities, strategic location and sustainable and energy efficient design features.

The American Institute of Architects recently launched a national advertising campaign to show how architects serve the general public by listening to and addressing their concerns and aspirations. They selected five projects in the nation that represent the spirit of collaboration and community outreach in the field of architecture to feature on their new "How Design Works" website, and recognized KSS Architects' work on the New Jersey City University Charter School to represent projects in the K-12 Education Sector. For the project, KSS' Michael Shatken and Merilee Meacock coordinated the efforts of the community and consultants from all fields to convert an industrial laundry building into a dynamic high school.
