When Design New Jersey editor Ren Miller saw our director of sustainable design's urban garden last summer, he was amazed. Andrew Tucker, AIA, had cultivated the backyard of his row home in Mill Hill, Trenton, into a one-man farm. Ren was so impressed that he included Andrew into the April/May issue. In the article "Home-grown Harvests" by Mary Vinnedge, Andrew and other garden experts discuss the meaning and satisfaction of having your own farm in your backyard. They also discuss tips for beginning gardeners.

In his backyard, Andrew grows herbs, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, squash and Swiss chard--and that's only for starters. "I don't know what it'd be like to be without fresh [vegetables]," he says in the article. Read more about other garden ideas in the latest issue of Design New Jersey.
