| Benjamin J. Shermeta, AIA, LEED AP, Associate | |
Benjamin James "J." has a broad range of project experience that includes residential, commercial and institutional work. Currently managing several higher education projects, he enjoys collaborating with clients and consultants. His ability to move projects forward derives from his dedication and initiative to finding sensible and long-term solutions. His recent collaboration with artists for the design and construction of a site-specific installation at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia received an AIA merit award and was published in American Craft. The son of an artist and a surgeon, J. grew up surrounded by art and architectural history at home, frequently engaging in lively discussions and debates about art and architecture with his family. His enthusiasm for identifying the motivation behind a work of art translated into a passion for architecture, a field that encourages one to debate ideas with others, but also to reflect and sketch in solitude to find solutions. After school, J. spent a year in Africa and Europe studying the relationship between landscapes and buildings. J. coordinates the sustainable design program and in-house continuing education program in KSS' Philadelphia office.
