Westminster Choir College Master Plan and New Academic Building | |
The School of Music of Rider University provides unique educational programs that allow its musicians to conduct and teach more than 1 million musicians worldwide each week. A world-class institution, Westminster needed a master plan that would include the future addition of an academic building and expanded parking infrastructure to fit into the context of its 1930s campus and historic quadrangle. By working closely with the college to understand the teaching and learning practices that best suit Westminster's music-centered educational environment, KSS designed and programmed a master plan and new academic building and quad that will accomplish the college's near- and long-term goals. The academic building's Georgian architectural elements such as brick masonry with white trim help establish connections to older campus buildings. Contemporary exterior and interior elements, such as state-of-the-art teaching and performance spaces, will place the building firmly in the 21st century. | Project Highlights Princeton, New Jersey Program: Campus master plan and strategic development; schematic design and program development for new academic building and parking lot expansion Size: 23-acre campus; 11,790 sf new academic building Features: Campus quadrangle; new academic building with two-story rehearsal spaces, practice spaces, classrooms, lobby, breakout rooms, study areas, formal and informal gathering spaces.
